'Something great for everyone!!' Electronica, Soul, Triphop and Indierock in one wave.
These releases are available from the 19th of March.
GUSGUS - POLYDISTORTION (2LP) - MOVLP497Experimental Triphop / Electronica / all-round sexy multi-media band Gus Gus from Iceland hardly ever escapes comparison to their more famous counterpart Björk, even if their music stands on its own amongst everything this little island with amazingly talented artists has produced.
The album features Emiliana Torrini on "Why?" and "Is Jesus Your Pal?".
This vinyl version contains 5 bonus tracks (including remixes by Amon Tobin and DJ Vadim), on top of the song "Polyreprise" which could previously only be heard as the hidden track on the cd-version.
This Music On Vinyl exclusive edition will be released in a 6mm sleeve with printed inner sleeves.
SAM COOKE - MR. SOUL (1LP) - MOVLP237Sam Cooke, inventor and true King of Soul, recorded
'Mr. Soul' in the same year as
'Night Beat' (
MOVLP163), and seems to be its more adult counterpart, with soulful ballads taking up most of the album.
With standards such as "Willow Weep For Me", "I Wish You Love", and "For Sentimental Reasons", Cooke shows a quiet emotive side of himself without losing his keen sense of melody.
For the first time in over thirty years, Music On Vinyl is re-issuing
'Mr. Soul' on 180 grams audiophile vinyl with remastered audio.
PORTISHEAD - ROSELAND NYC (2LP) - MOVLP480Along with Massive Attack and Tricky, Portishead was part of the Bristol triumvirate that popularized Triphop in the early nineties, especially in America.
But what made them stand out was their added elements of Cool Jazz, Acid House and soundtrack samples creating an atmospheric and seductive sound that appealed to a broad audience.
In 1998, when they realized that fans were swapping bootlegs of their live shows like crazy, Portishead decided to capture a unique performance.
'Roseland NYC' was a one night stand of sorts at the New York City Roseland Ballroom, where Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley and Beth Gibbons were joined by the 35-piece New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
Including printed innersleeves.
THE STROKES - THIS IS IT (1LP) - MOVLP085 That Leather Glove. That Bum.
One of the most recognizable and celebrated record covers from the noughties.
Critics and audiences alike were blown away by the gargantuan success of the 2001 debut-album of this New York quintet, and we're still recovering from the aftershock ten years later.
Drawling vocals, bouncy basslines, gnarly guitar riffs, and a steadily chugging beat made "Someday" and "Last Nite" the anthems of a new generation.
So put on your skinny jeans, tousle your hair, and find yourself a model;
'Is This It' will make you feel like the coolest kid on the New York block!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS ALBUM IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE UK TERRITORY !
