Panic and madness on the corner
Let's start this week with the fantastic studio album
(One) by the American supergroup
The Panic Channel. Vocalist Steve Isaacs joined the forces with three members of Jane's Addiction. As one of the most important names out of the alternative rock scene the guys from Jane's Addiction gave the band an classic rock feeling. The complexity of the combination of boogie music and progressive rock can be heard on the self-titled 1974 debut album by the American rock band
Kansas.
Kansas is available as a first pressing of 2.000 individually numbered copies on transparent vinyl. Another progressive classic is
Moonmadness, released in 1976 by the English band
Camel. The album has an overall theme but was a loose concept, based on the individual personalities that made up the band. It is pressed on 1.000 individually numbered copies on silver vinyl. The latest release with progressive melodies is recorded by the metal band
Watchtower. Their second album
Control and Resistance is known for the complex rhythms and incoherent structures. The album is available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on purple vinyl.
We're going to move on with a series of Dutch releases. Just a short time before the tragic dead of
Herman Brood he recorded his album
Back on the Corner. Accompanied by a big band he ventures to interpret well-known swing classics. The first pressing of 1.000 individually numbered copies is available on transparent vinyl.
Angelbite is the fifth studio album by Dutch rock and roll band
Claw Boys Claw. The band attempted a more accessible sound on Angelbite. The album points to the later "swamp rock" sound the band would adopt. To celebrate his fiftieth birthday this year
Benjamin Herman is releasing three new albums. The first album,
Project S, is an ode to the Citroën SM, the legendary car driven most famously in the Netherlands by footballer Johan Cruyff. The album is available as a first pressing of 750 individually numbered copies on transparent red vinyl. Our last album is
The Cool Voice of Rita Reys by the Dutch jazz singer
Rita Reys. She recorded the album with the famous backup band Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers. Her sense of phrasing is wonderful and the jazz sounds are filled with musicianship.
