We have the two first releases of our classic reggae albums series. These legendary albums were originally released by Island Records to promote their new Trojan label at the time, and Duke Reid Rock's Steady turned out to be a true collector's item. The LP highlights the best of the label boss Duke Reid and various artists and proved to be very popular over the Atlantic Ocean as well.
Long Shot by The Pioneers was the proving album that Jamaican vocal trio's were quite popular in the sixties, the success of the single "Long Shot Kick The Bucket" was swiftly followed by what became one of the original label's biggest selling long players of all time.
Both of these boss reggae and rocksteady albums are available on limited edition on orange vinyl, just like the (upcoming) rest of the series!
This week the new album by Frank Boeijen in the Dutch Vinyl Masters series is released. Het Mooiste & Het Beste 2 is the second best of album by the Dutch famous singer and is a complete compilation created by himself. It includes the live version of "Zeg me dat het niet zo is" and songs from the period of 1997-2017, such as "Vaderland", "Tijd", "Geluk" en "De dans ontsprongen".
The original soundtrack of the film M*A*S*H* is now available in our At The Movies department! This album includes the memorable main title theme by Johnny Mandel and Mike Altman, at the time he wrote the lyrics he was only 14 years old. The limited edition is pressed on 750 copies on red vinyl.
Have a great weekend!

One trio that not only succeeded, but blossomed following the onset of reggae, is the Pioneers, who in 1969 became one of the first Jamaican acts to achieve international success with their UK hit, 'Long Shot Kick The Bucket'.
The success of the single was swiftly followed by what became one of Trojan's biggest selling long players of all time, the aptly titled 'Long Shot'.
Johnny Mandel's work on the soundtrack largely involved arranging period tunes and effect music (especially military and football-related themes), although he also wrote a memorable main title theme.
"Song from M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless)" is written by Johnny Mandel (music) and Mike Altman (lyrics), which was the theme song for both the movie and TV series M*A*S*H. Mike Altman is the son of the original film's director, Robert Altman, and was 14 years old when he wrote the song's lyrics.
The first of a series of classic albums from the legendary Trojan catalog that will see issue throughout the year, the erroneously titled 'Duke Reid Rock's Steady' was originally released by Island Records to promote their new Trojan label, an imprint launched to specifically showcase the productions of legendary Treasure Isle Records boss, Arthur 'Duke' Reid.
