After the release of 1st Step To Heaven by DAF, acclaimed house DJ's like John Peel called the German electropunk band “the Grandfathers of Techno”. The album is now available on gold coloured vinyl. The debut album by Bow Wow Wow was named one of the 50 greatest new wave albums by Vive Le Rock. It's titled See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah, City All Over! Go Ape Crazy! and is available on green & yellow marbled vinyl. Also in stores is Cracker's self-titled debut album, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. For fans of soul we have Travelin' by L.J. Reynolds, also known as the ex-singer of The Dramatics. For the blues, check out Robert Cray Strong Persuader or Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues by Keb' Mo'. Lastly, it is also the release date of Yes' live album 9012 Live - The Solos on silver coloured vinyl.
The American rock band Cracker origins from Bakersfield, California and was formed in 1990 by lead singer David Lowery and guitarist Johnny Hickman, who both came from the band Camper Van Beethoven. Cracker includes “Happy Birthday To Me” and the radio hit “Teen Angst (What The World Needs Now)”, which peaked at #1 on the US Modern Rock chart.
Keb' Mo's Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues is the 2003 blues album, part of Martin Scorsese's The Blues documentary series. The series is dedicated to the history of blues music, which provided the ultimate opportunity for Keb' Mo' to compile the highlights of his career thus far. Scorsese selected the very best 16 tracks to feature on this 2LP, including “Come On In My Kitchen”, “Am I Wrong” and “Peace Of Mind”.
In 1982 L.J. Reynolds released his second solo album Travelin', which was a split production between Reynolds and Don Davis. This classic soul album includes “Trust In Me”, “Say You Will” and “Call Me”, the latter being written by Aretha Franklin. Travelin' features guest performances by Bernie Worrell and William “Bootsy” Collins.
Five-time Grammy Award winning blues singer Robert Cray recorded his fifth studio album Strong Persuader together with Grammy Award winning producer Bruce Bromberg. The 10-track album included three singles, including “Right Next Door (Because Of Me)”, “I Guess I Showed Her” and “Smoking Gun”, the latter reaching #2 on the US Rock chart and #22 on the Billboard Hot 100.
9012Live: The Solos(1985) is the third live album by English rock band Yes. Recorded during their 1984 world tour in support of their eleventh studio album, 90125, the album features a selection of solo tracks performed by each of the five band members, plus live versions of two songs from 90125.
DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) is an influential German electropunk band from Düsseldorf (Germany). 1st Step To Heaven , which was (and still is) their only album in English. DAF received a lot of acclaim after this release. John Peel called them “the Grandfathers of Techno” and House music pioneer Adonis stated that the album was “House before there was House”.
