Including X, Tripping Daisy, Chet Baker, Realm, Gary Moore, David Arnold and James Horner amongst others.
This was the very first week of spring. Even though the weather did not brighten up our days, we are pretty sure our new releases will! The following titles are now in stores:
Under The Big Black Sun by X was produced by The Doors co-founder Ray Manzarek and is now available on turquoise coloured vinyl. The Roadrunner classic Endless War by Realm features a thrash rendition of The Beatles “Eleanor Rigby” and is available on coloured vinyl for the first time. For the first time on vinyl in general, is the 1993 album Bill by Tripping Daisy, which was their debut album and 10 tracks that are evidence of the early Nineties alt-pop sound. Jazz fans will be running to the stores for Mr. B by the Chet Baker Trio, which features compositions by Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver and Dave Brubeck amongst others and is pressed on translucent red coloured vinyl.
Our coloured reissues this week include Symarip Skinhead Moonstomp, Fishbone Truth And Soul, and Gary Moore Band Grinding Stone.
In addition, both the 20th anniversary edition of James Horner's score for Titanic and the soundtrack for Casino Royale by David Arnold are in stores on coloured vinyl.
And if that isn't enough.. We're proud to expand the Silverchair collection with the 2002 album Diorama, which now features a special rainbow laminate finish. The first 150 copies are exclusively available on Sound Factory, pre-order now: https://sound-factory.nl/collections/silverchair
All 11 songs on Under The Big Black Sun are exceptional, from both a performance and compositional point of view. Before the recording of the album, singer Exene Cervenka's sister was killed by a drunk driver, and the band decided to work out their grief in the music, which eventually resulted in two of the album's best tracks: the melodic "Riding With Mary" and the vintage '50s sound of "Come Back to Me". The record was produced by Ray Manzarek, who is best known as the co-founder of The Doors.
Titanic is the 1997 epic romance-disaster film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its fateful maiden voyage.
Tripping Daisy is a neo-psychedelic pop rock band that was formed in Dallas, Texas, by lead singer/guitarist Tim DeLaughter in 1990 along with Jeff Bouck (drums), Wes Berggren (guitar) and Mark Pirro (bass). Their debut album Bill was released in 1993 and features 10 tracks which are evidence of the early 90's alt-pop sound.
The soundtrack to the 2006 film Casino Royale was composed by David Arnold and is Arnold's fourth soundtrack for the popular James Bond movie series. Frequent collaborator Nicholas Dodd orchestrated and conducted the score. The traditional James Bond Theme builds throughout the film before appearing in its full form over the end credits as track 25, “The Name's Bond... James Bond”.

Truth and Soul is their second studio album by alternative rock band Fishbone, originally released in 1988. The album features a wide array of genres including punk, ska, reggae, soul, funk, elements of hard rock and blues. Truth and Soul contains a cover version of Curtis Mayfield's "Freddie's Dead", originally from the soundtrack to the film Super Fly and it is the first single of the album.
Released in 1973, Grinding Stone was Gary Moore's solo debut with The Gary Moore Band. The music on this album could be described as experimental, but on the album, Moore explores a number of styles, from the title track's instrumental "Boogie Rock" to soulful vocals on "Sail Across the Mountain" and 17 minutes of guitar and keyboard excursions on the surprisingly funky "Spirit".

Mr. B is the album recorded in 1983 by Chet Baker and is considered one of the best from that period. Baker plays compositions from “Dolphin Dance” (Herbie Hancock), “Strollin” (Horace Silver) and “In Your Own Sweet Way” (Dave Brubeck). The sadness of the songs is felt throughout, in a lazy sometimes slow and sluggish tempo. The album includes two bonus tracks “White Blues” and “Father X-mas” and band members include Michel Graillier (piano) and Ricardo Del Fra (bass).
Symarip recorded only one studio album; Skinhead Moonstomp. An instant classic and it includes fan favorites like "Skinhead Girl", "Skinhead Jamboree", and "Skinhead Moonstomp". Singer and trombone player Roy Ellis was the man behind many of their classics. This is the ultimate party album, with an excellent mixture of ska, reggae, and soul music.
Realm was an American heavy metal/ technical thrash band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Discussing Realm primarily in terms of overlap with these other acts, would do injustice to the distinct musical identity the band has carved out for itself. Endless War breathes intensity from start to finish, even a thrash rendition of the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby can be found on this album.
