Including James LaBrie, Sponge, Elvis Costello, Chapterhoues and Within Temptation amongst others.
Happy Friday! We hope our batch of new releases will give your weekend a great kickstart:
After our reissue of Static Impulse, it is now time for Impermanent Resonance, the 2013 studio album by Dreamtheater frontman James LaBrie. This flaming record is available on - you guessed it - flaming coloured vinyl. Also available on flaming coloured vinyl, is the iconic debut album Rotting Piñata by Sponge. This rock album features “Plowed” and “Molly (Sixteen Candles)”, which remain their biggest hits to date. Discover vocals by Meat Loaf on Ted Nugent's Free-For-All, which was recorded just a year before Bat Out Of Hell came out. This record is pressed on translucent blue coloured vinyl, just like the reissue of A Better World by Chris de Burgh. Another reissue that is now in stores, is Elvis Costello's Mighty Like A Rose. This 1991 album features 2 tracks that were co-written by Paul McCartney and is available on gold coloured vinyl.
A few weeks ago we released the Chapterhouse EP Freefall. Next is Sunburst, which is now in stores on crystal clear, red & blue marbled vinyl. Last, but not least, is the prog rock outfit The Tangent. Their debut album The Music That Died Alone was scheduled only to be a 'one-off' side project, but after its success, more albums followed. This debut album is now available on vinyl for the first time and is pressed on crystal clear, silver & blue marbled vinyl.
And if that isn't enough, we have some more news: We have joined forces with the great Within Temptation and as a first result, we celebrate the release of single "Don't Pray For Me" with the track on limited edition gold coloured vinyl. This 7" is exclusively available at the WT music store. Keep an eye out for our newsletter and socials, because there is more to come..
Chris de Burgh is a British-Irish singer-songwriter who started out as an art rock performer but subsequently started writing more pop-oriented music. In 2016 he released his 21st studio album A Better World. The album includes 15 self-penned songs which encompass all the craftsmanship learnt from the more than 280 songs written by this master songwriter. This vinyl edition includes 2 bonus tracks; “True Love” and “She Was Made For Me”.
After the release of their debut EP Freefall in 1990, it only took the British shoegaze band Chapterhouse a few months to release their sophomore EP Sunburst. The opening track “Something More” was also part of the debut album Whirlpool.
In 2002, Parallel Or 90 Degrees keyboardist Andy Tillison founded the British progressive rock outfit The Tangent, together with Sam Baine, Guy Manning, Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings), Jonas Reingold, Zoltan Csörsz and David Jackson (Van der Graaf Generator). The band was scheduled only to be a 'one-off' side project but has produced ten official studio albums and a number of live albums since. In 2003, they released their debut album The Music That Died Alone, but never appeared on vinyl.
American hard rock musician Ted Nugent released his second studio album Free-For-All in 1976, which became his first album to go Platinum. A year before Bat Out Of Hell brought Meat Loaf international success, he was brought in by Werman to provide vocals for Ted Nugent's album. Eventually, the collaboration resulted in five tracks with Meat Loaf as lead vocalist; “Writing On The Wall”, “Street Rats”, “Together”, “Hammerdown” and “I Love You So I Told You A Lie”.
Mighty Like A Rose is an album that twists and turns in its stylistic delivery. Costello collaborated once again with Mitchell Froom and Kevin Killen for the production and co-wrote two tracks alongside Paul McCartney.
Besides being the lead singer of progressive metal band Dream Theater, James LaBrie also celebrated a successful career as a solo artist. In total, he released five solo albums, including the 2013 album Impermanent Resonance. The album carries on the melodic death metal style first featured on the album Static Impulse, and once again features screaming vocals by drummer Peter Wildoer.
Detroit-based rock band Sponge was formed in 1992 and consisted of vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarist Mike Cross, bassist Tim Cross, drummer Jimmy Paluzzi and guitarist Joey Mazzola. Their biggest hits to date include “Plowed” and “Molly (Sixteen Candles)”, which are both from their 1994 debut album Rotting Piñata.
