How are your new year's resolutions going? To those that are looking to double their vinyl collection, we got some good news! The following titles are now in stores:
The second editions to Nineties, Zeroes and Tens Collected, all three are available on coloured vinyl. Available on voodoo coloured vinyl, is the brand new album Child Of Sin by Kovacs, which features a duet with Till Lindemann.
Also available are several reissues on coloured vinyl, including the 12” She's A Vision by Chapterhouse, Crayons by Donna Summer, Joe Turner Big Joe Is Here, The Upsetters Rhythm Shower and the 20th anniversary edition of Rank 1 Symsonic.
In addition, several Original Soundtracks are now in stores on coloured vinyl: Mark Orton's score for Nebraska, Catherine Called Birdy by Carter Burwell and Roomful Of Teeth and two editions of the iconic West Side Story, the Original Broadway Cast Recording and the Original Soundtrack by Leonard Bernstein.
Lastly, the following titles are available on black vinyl: Days Of The New Days Of The New and Exhorder The Law.
West Side Story is the recording of the 1957 Broadway production of the same-titled musical. All music is composed by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim. The musical premiered in 1957 and was performed 732 times before the cast went on tour. West Side Story was nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Musical in 1958. In 1961, the film West Side Story was released, which was based on the same-titled musical. The success of the movie (winning multiple Grammy Awards) bolstered the popularity of the musical even more.
The 1993 EP She's A Vision features two tracks from the album Blood Music, the title track and “Don't Look Now”. In addition, the EP contains two mixes from that same album, including the mix of “Don't Look Now” by The Drum Club, a popular dance duo based in the UK.
Joe Turner was an American blues singer who is known by his nickname of “Big Joe Turner” (because of his corpulent stature), but is also known as various other nicknames, such as “Boss of the Blues”. Big Joe Is Here, which is Turner's post-R&B era album. The album focusses on the jazzy blues side of Turner's career, closer to Kansas City jazz and traditional pop than his pioneering R&B hits.
Rhythm Shower is the 1973 studio album by The Upsetters, but also features tracks by Dillinger and Sir Lord Comic. Many of the rhythms on the album are known as those done by Lee “Scratch” Perry. Originally released in a very limited Jamaican pressing with no sleeve, it became better known after its reissue by Trojan Records as part of The Upsetter Collection.
Rank 1 is a Dutch electronic dance music DJ/producer duo founded by Piet Bervoets and Benno De Goeij in 1999. They're one of Europe's most established, respected dance acts, having been catapulted to stardom by their debut release “Airwave”. Their only studio album Symsonic was originally released in 2002 and features the singles “Airwave”, “The Citrus Juicer”, “Awakening” and “Such Is Life”.
Tens Collected Vol. 2 compiles some of the biggest songs, top ten, number 1 hits and debut singles from the new century. Billie Eilish's “Bad Guy” topped the international charts, jazz-singer Gregory Porter's “Liquid Spirit” with the remix by Claptone was a surprise hit, DJ Calvin Harris & Sam Smith's awesome collaboration with “Promises”, teeny pop sensations Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber charted also high. LMFAO infectious hit “Sexy And I Know It”, Megan Trainor's “All About That Bass” and pop by Florence + The Machine “Ship To Wreck” amongst many others are included on this 2LP.
Days of the New is the American rock band from Charlestown, Indiana, formed in 1995. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Travis Meeks and a variety of supporting musicians. The 1997 debut studio album was the first of their three self-titled albums. It spawned three singles, “Touch, Peel And Stand”, “The Down Town” and “Shelf In The Room”.
Nebraska is a 2013 American comedy-drama road film directed by Alexander Payne, written by Bob Nelson and starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, June Squibb and Bob Odenkirk. Shot in black-and-white, the story follows an elderly Montana resident and his son as they try to claim a million-dollar sweepstakes prize on a long trip to Nebraska. The film score was composed by Mark Orton, who is part of the acoustic chamber music group Tin Hat (formerly the Tin Hat Trio).
Zeroes Collected Vol. 2 compiles some of the biggest songs, top ten hits and debut singles from the turn of the century. The millennium brought pop by MGMT “Kids”, rap by N.E.R.D. “She Wants To Move”, “The Seed (2.0)” by The Roots feat. Cody Chesnutt and rock by Queens Of The Stone Age “Make It With Chu”. Two time Brit Award and Grammy Award winning Joss Stone's “Super Duper Love”, Maroon's 5 International top charting hit “This Love”, The Zutons' original version of “Valerie” and many others are included on this 2LP.
Exhorder is considered pioneers of the groove-oriented thrash metal sound. After the success of their debut album Slaughter In The Vatican, they released their second studio album The Law in 1992. he Law includes the track “Into The Void”, which is a cover of Black Sabbath's song off their Master Of Reality album.
Crayons is the seventeenth studio album by the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer. It was her first full-length studio album in fourteen years. Crayons debuted and peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200. The album included four singles in total, “I'm A Fire”, “Stamp Your Feet”, “It's Only Love” and “Fame (The Game)”.
Nineties Collected Vol. 2 compiles some of the biggest songs, top ten hits and debut singles from the Nineties, including U2 “Stay (Faraway, So Close)”, Air's debut single “Sexy Boy”, Underworld's house hit “Born Slippy, (Nuxx)”, Brit-pop's Kula Shaker's “Tattva and Kelis' “Caught Out There”. Also featured is jazz-fusion rap by US3 “Cantaloop”, the number one-hit in the UK “The Drugs Don't Work” by The Verve amongst many others.
Catherine Called Birdy is a brand new medieval comedy written and directed by Lena Dunham, adapted from the YA/children's novel if the same name written by Karen Cushman. The soundtrack features the original score composed by Carter Burwell, performed by the Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth along with several covers produced by Luis Felber and performed by UK based musician/singer Misty Mille.
