Including Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Aretha Franklin, Modern Talking, Eisley, Batmobile and Deadpool 2 amongst others.
After a long week of work, it's now time to sit back, relax and enjoy a fantastic record. This week, we're proud to present the following titles that are now in stores:
The special 3LP-set Open The Gate, which features a collection of recordings by Lee 'Scratch' Perry from his late Black Ark period and is available on orange coloured vinyl. In addition, another icon: Aretha Franklin. Her 1964 album Runnin' Out Of Fools features cover versions of Dionne Warwick “Walk On By” and Mary Wells “My Guy” amongst others and is pressed on red coloured vinyl.
This week, we're also excited to continue the series of 12 inches by Modern Talking. This time, Brother Louie, Atlantis Is Calling and Geronimo's Cadillac are available on coloured vinyl.
Also new in stores is Defiance Product Of Society on translucent blue coloured vinyl, Batmobile Brace For Impact on translucent yellow coloured vinyl, and both Alcazar Alcazarized and Eisley Combinations on gold coloured vinyl.
Lastly, Tyler Bates' score for the 2018 box office hit Deadpool 2 is available on translucent pink coloured vinyl, which is housed in a deluxe sleeve and includes a booklet and magnet.
Batmobile is founded in 1983 by Jeroen Haamers, Johnny Zuidhof and Eric Haamers. They're considered the seminal Dutch psychobilly band and celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2023. To mark this milestone, they present their 15th studio album, entitled Brace For Impact, which features 13 brand new killer tracks.
Modern Talking released “Geronimo's Cadillac” back in 1986 as the first single from the album In The Middle Of Nowhere. It reached the top 5 in Germany, Finland, Austria and Spain.
Deadpool 2 is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool. Bates approached the score with a slight rock sensibility and created an “obvious superhero theme” that he felt fit within the established X-Men franchise. He attempted to write music that stayed out of the way of the film's comedy and complemented its dialogue. For the score, Bates used a distorted guitar run through a wah-wah pedal, microsynths to add “unique colors”, and a choir.
Defiance is the Californian thrash metal band that consisted of Ken Elkington, Dough Harrington, Jim Adams, Mike Kaufmann and Matt Vander Ende. After issuing a demo, the band signed with Roadracer Records and traveled to Vancouver to record their debut album Product Of Society with Annihilator guitarist Jeff Waters.
Runnin' Out of Fools is the sixth studio album by the American “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin, originally released in 1964 and arranged and conducted by Belford C. Hendricks. The album features cover versions of Dionne Warwick “Walk On By”, Betty Everett “The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)” and Mary Wells “My Guy” amongst others.
Alcazarized is the second studio album by Swedish nu-disco group Alcazar, originally released in 2003. The album features “Funky Feet”, a track that ABBA recorded but never officially released, and “This Is The World We Live In.
The Jamaican dub pioneer Lee “Scratch” Perry had the ability to attract some of the best musicians around to indulge in their fantasies. The 1989 compilation album Open The Gate is a collection of the 12” versions Lee Perry did in the late Black Ark period.
The American rock band Eisley originally consisted of siblings Sherry DuPree, Chauntelle DuPree, Stacy DuPree and Weston DuPree. In 2003 they released their debut studio album with positive response. Their second studio album Combinations was originally released in 2007, which contained “Invasion” as the lead single.
Modern Talking booked major commercial success with the single “Brother Louie” in 1986. It was the lead single of their third studio album Ready For Romance and also the fourth consecutive single to top the German Singles Chart.
Modern Talking released “Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. For Love)” in 1986 as the second single from their album Ready For Romance. It was also the fifth consecutive single to reach #1 on the German Singles Chart.
