The album The Skatalite was originally released in 1969 and contains some of the best tracks from the Skatalites cut for producer Duke Reid. It was recorded with the classic line-up, featuring Don Drummond on trombone, Jackie Mittoo on piano, and Jonny “Dizzy” Moore on the trumpet. This 12-track set includes “Eastern Standard Time”, “Dan-De-Lion” and “Yard Broom” amongst others.
AfroPhysicist is the third full-length album by jazz trumpeter Theo Croker. Known for his adventurous and spiritual playing style, Theo worked closely with Dee Dee Bridgewater to create this work of art. Croker's recognisable fusion style blends perfectly with the funky rhythms of drummer Karriem Riggins. The result is compositions that blend the more traditional fusion with a very modern feel, with contemporary R&B and hip hop influences.
Desmond Dekker recorded some of his best-known songs together with his backing group the Aces (consisting of Wilson James and Easton Barrington Howard). Their debut album 007 (Shanty Town) includes their single of the same name, which made him Jamaican music's first 'outernational' superstar, reaching #14 on the UK charts. You'll hear how the ska music from the mid-60s developing into the rocksteady sound. This is where it all started before Desmond became the international star, famous because of his international hits, such as "Israelites" (1968) and "It Miek" (1969).
Modern Talking released “Jet Airliner” in 1986 as the first single from the album Romantic Warriors. It reached the top 10 in Germany, Austria and Spain.
