Ultramagnetic MC's, Willie Nelson and Prometheus
This week's release list is short but super sweet. We've got a hip hop classic, a country legend and an exciting sci-fi horror soundtrack eagerly waiting to be added to your record collection. All on limited edition coloured vinyl, of course.
New York hiphop revolutionaries Ultramagnetic MC's dropped their debut studio album Critical Beatdown in 1988. The underground hip hop scene immediately hailed it as a masterpiece, and the album has since been listed on “Best Ever” album lists. This expanded edition features 6 bonus tracks. Additionally, it contains a 4 page booklet with interviews, rare photos and liner notes written by Angus Batey. Available now as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on yellow vinyl.
Willie Nelson might be primarily known for his country songs, but the legendary musician frequently branches out to other genres including jazz. Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin includes jazzpop standards penned by George and Ira Gershwin, sprinkled with some of Nelson's country nuances. The album debuted at number one on the Traditional Jazz and Top Jazz Albums Billboard charts and reached number fourteen in Top Album Sales and reached number forty in the Billboard 200. Now available as a limited edition of 1000 numbered copies on transparent red vinyl, including an insert as well as the Willie Nelson on Music On Vinyl catalogue insert.
This week's addition to our At The Movies catalogue comes in the shape of Prometheus, the soundtrack to the 2012 sci-fi film (which is part of the Alien franchise) directed by Ridley Scott. The score was created by German composer Marc Streitenfeld, whom had the orchestra play some parts of the score backwards before digitally reversing it in order to create an unsettling sound. Available now as a limited edition of 1000 copies on blue marbled vinyl. It's housed in a deluxe gatefold with silver foil laminate and contains a 4-page booklet with movie-stills + exclusive litho.
