Etta James was 63 when Burnin' Down The House was recorded at the House of Blues, December 2001. Vocally she's still at the top of her abilities on the record. This album is now available on vinyl for the first time and the 2LP package contains an insert. Back in Your Life was released in 1979 under the Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers moniker. It's a very pleasant album, where Jonathan brings his melancholy mood to the quiet and reflective songs. Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. Of the soundtrack, composer Thomas Newman (Skyfall, Wall-E, Finding Nemo, Six Feet Under) says: “Because J.R.R. Tolkien is embedded in popular culture, and because his work and outlook have been the subjects of much interpretation, I wanted to write music for Tolkien that would honor his ethos, his individualism, without being slavish to it.
Veteran soul/blues singer Etta James was only 16 when, in 1954, she made her first recordings for Modern records. She was 63 when Burnin' Down The House was recorded at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA, in December 2001 -- and it is obvious that vocally, she didn't lose anything along the way.
Back in Your Life was released in 1979 under the Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers moniker. Half of the album features Jonathan playing solo and the other half The Modern Lovers are supporting him as a backup band.
