Selected here are some of Holland's most successful bands from the sixties and seventies.Songs from The Motions' "Wasted Words", The Outsiders' "Lying All The Time" and Rudy Bennett's smash hit "How Can We Hang On To A Dream" represent the early beginnings of the Dutch Nederbeat sound. Golden Earrings' (before the name was shortened to Golden Earring) "Sound Of The Screaming Day", The Shoes "Don't You Cry For A Girl" and The Cats' "Times Were When" conclude Side A. Continuing on Side B with Sandy Coast's "Capital Punishment", the blues influenced Livin' Blues' "Wang Dang Doodle", Brainbox's "To You", Earth and Fire's "Storm And Thunder" and concluding with the symfonic rock from Kayak's "Mammoth.
The compilation highlights music from the forthcoming new vinyl albums in The Golden Years of Dutch Pop Music. Dutch bands that were not only ground-breaking and successful in the sixties and seventies in The Netherlands but also far beyond the Dutch borders.
