The third Stone Temple Pilots album received critical acclaim for its broad spectrum of sounds - it proved the Pilots are anything but a one hit wonder and also their Grunge roots (although being accused of being too 'commercial' sounding for true Grunge standards) are still firmly in place.

Guitarist Dean DeLeo is a true master of hooks and his palette of chords and melodies seems endless. Singer Scott Weiland's out-of-this-world lyrics set him apart as a true showman. By slightly accentuating their music with Pop influences, this very strategy allows STP to distinguish themselves from the pack of flannel wearing, long haired bands that were raiding the airwaves in the '90s.
