This is the Soundtrack to the British-American television drama series created by Ronald D. Moore, based on the Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. The music is composed by Emmy Award winner Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Da Vinci's Demons) with performances by Scots Gaelic singer Gillebrìde MacMillan.

The series follow the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Outlander: Season 1 Vol. 1 compiled some of the favorite cues from the first eight episodes of Outlander. The new record, Vol. 2, includes music from throughout the entire season, weighted heavily towards the last eight episodes. Included are a reworked, full version of the show's theme (“The Skye Boat Song”) and a recording of “An Fhìdeag Airgid” by Scots Gaelic singer Gillebrìde MacMillan, in addition to the lively bagpipe dance-turned-strings adventure “Charge of the Highland Cattle,” and more atmospheric instrumental folk and orchestral music.

Outlander: Season 1 Vol. 2 is available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on smoke coloured vinyl and includes a 4-page booklet with pictures and liner notes.
