Patti's famous debut album 'Horses' (available as
MOVLP018), was released in 1975 and can still be found high in the rankings of major magazine's Top album listings of all time (Rolling Stone, NME, Time).
Nearly 30 years later, Patti Smith still takes her role as social commentator very seriously on "Trampin'".
Released in 2004, "Trampin'" is largely a political album, based on Patti's observations on early 21st century's events, such as 9/11, the war in Iraq, and Afghanistan, which all had an enormous impact on the world's political and social environment.
Despite the heavy political nature of the songs, the album is not pushing Patti's opinion down the listener's throat. Smith's sincere poetry, which we've known since her first album, go hand in hand with straight up garage rock, ballads and improvisational pieces on "Trampin'" .
