YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA REISSUE CAMPAIGN... FINALIZED!

No less than 9 Yellow Magic Orchestra albums have got righteous 180 gram audiophile vinyl reissues in a campaign that lasted well into 2016. Every YMO album in their discography, right up until 1984's After Service, has got a limited transparent pressing of which several are already sold out but available on black vinyl also.

YMO - YMO USAThis first YMO album was released in 1978 in Japan ('79 in Europe) and set a precedent in the music industry like never before. By releasing this daring album, YMO shook the world with their 'Synthpop', at the time a revelation as well as a revolution. Featuring the hit "Firecracker", an infectious and exotic Martin Denny cover, which became a staple in the early Hip Hop scene in New York.

YMO - X-MultipliesX∞ Multiplies was released as an EP in 1980. Now this album is something different! Filled with humor, catchy commercial tunes, instrumentals, computerized vocals and 2 versions of the Soul classic "Tighten up" by Archie Bell & The Drells, YMO took a break from their serious side and decided to have a go with a more poppy sound mixed with humor and fun.

ymo - bgmOn their fourth album BGM (1981), YMO continued where they left off with X∞ Multiplies, by venturing further into synthesizers, drum computers and experimentation with rhythm, sequences and speeds. "1000 Knives" and "Cue" are the most famous; 'The Hand Clap' on "1000 Knives" is probably one of the most used samples in the '80s, early '90s.

YMO - Technodelic1981 was a groundbreaking year for the music industry. By releasing BGM and Technodelic in one year, YMO made a shift happen in Pop music. YMO introduced a new way of using samples and loops by cutting sound bites into fragments and reprogramming them with newly available computer technology.

YMO - Naughty boysNaughty Boys
 (1983) was Yellow Magic Orchestra's seventh and final album to top the Japanese Oricon Pop charts. A remix album, Naughty Boys Instrumental was released in July 1983. It contained nearly the entire Naughty Boys album as instrumental tracks in an entirely different running order, as well as the b-side to "Kimi Ni Mune Kyun", "Chaos Panic"; and the full instrumental version of "You've Got to Help Yourself", of which the vocal track was included on Service[MOVLP1473].

SERVICE

YMO - ServiceService
 was the eighth and, at the time, final studio album by Yellow Magic Orchestra. The band dissolved the following year after a world tour. Like ×-Multiplies [MOVLP1469], it contains a mixture of YMO songs and comedy sketches performed by Super Eccentric Theater, or S.E.T.Service features "You've Got to Help Yourself", which was previously featured in instrumental form on the previous album, Naughty Boys Instrumental [MOVLP1472].
