Patti Smith wins the Polar Music Prize and releases new compilation on MOV
Music On Vinyl congratulates Patti Smith with winning the Polar Music Prize of 2011.
The jury honoured her with this prize because "she devoted her life to art in all its forms. Patti Smith has demonstrated how much rock'n'roll there is in poetry and how much poetry there is in rock'n'roll." Other great artists who have won this award include Paul McCartney, Quincy Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
This week, Music On Vinyl is releasing her latest compilation 'Outside Society': a collection which shows her to be one of the most influential artists of her time. This brand new "Best Of Patti Smith" album includes her top hits "Because The Night", "Dancing Barefoot", "Gloria" and features her own interpretation of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
Besides the previous Patti Smith albums we have released, we are proud to announce that we are working on another classic Patti album: "Radio Ethiopia", which will be released later this year.
