This week we have an all-Jazz wave of releases and a great Blue Note announcement.
Both releases will be out on June 11th!
PAUL DESMOND - TAKE TEN (1LP) - MOVLP552
Widely recognized as a genius melodic improviser, Jazz Alto saxophonist Paul Desmond was one of the most popular musicians of the West Coast's
"Cool Jazz"-scene, working together with Dave Brubeck and penning the major hit "Take Five". The tracks on his 1963 album 'Take Ten'
are loaded with sweet melodies; a very nice addition to Music On Vinyl's impressive Jazz catalogue, indeed! DEXTER GORDON - SOPHISTICATED GIANT (1LP) – MOVLP512'Sophisticated Giant'
is a 1977 jazz album by Dexter Gordon recorded with an eleven-piece band including players such as Bobby Hutcherson, Woody Shaw and Benny Bailey, arranged by trombone player Slide Hampton. It was recorded a year after Gordon's homecoming to the United States, and he had been touring the country for over a year, when he had finally been given recognition as one of the greatest tenor players. This Jazz classic, with tunes such as "The Moontrane," and "Fried Bananas" is made available on vinyl for the first time in 25 years, and comes with an insert.
MORE AWESOME BLUE NOTE NEWS:
After releasing Gare Du Nord's newest album 'Rendezvous 8:02' (MOVLP578) last week, we are proud to announce that there are even more Blue Note albums coming your way.
We are releasing 'Blue Note Trip Volume 10 – Late Nights (MOVLP580) / Early Mornings (MOVLP581)' on the 2nd of July, just two weeks after the CD release and a few days before the world renowned North Sea Jazz Festival.
But that isn't all: Music On Vinyl is planning to revive the Blue Note Trip series, starting with Volume One of the legendary compilations. Both 'Saturday Night' (MOVLP574) and 'Sunday Morning' (MOVLP575) will be released –unmixed– on 2LP 180 grams audiophile vinyl in gatefold sleeves; the best way to enjoy that beautiful Blue Note artwork.
