The band that has been through so much and then some released Reach For The Sky in 1980. The transition from their origins of groovy Blues Rock (with Duane Allman still in their ranks) to Country Rock had been completed around this time.

Under the leadership of guitarist and original member Dickey Betts and founding member/organ player Gregg Allman the band churned out eight songs for this gospel-infused album. Reach For The Sky even attained a minor hit with the song "Angeline".
